type_wildMy first fic finished in a year was one where I expressed surprise at having written something “bittersweet leaning on sad”, but then I went over my bibliography and realised that for someone who does not expose herself to hurt without the promise of “comfort” as a reader, I sure publish a lot of fic where happy endings are debatable or at least comes with a distinct aftertaste.
So even though I really had better things to do, I went back and looked it over and did a bit of a rating. And then I did the stats.
All fic mentioned here are published either on AO3, FFN, the ficjournal or the fic… tumblr?
Angst rating:
0 - warm and soft like puppies in socks (OR: did it for the lulz)

10 - everything is ruined and everyone is broken and there is no way to fix it
The average is 3,5, which was less than I expected, but still definitely not a clear zero.
But this list has a good number of “0” ratings that exist mainly thanks to fic being comedy. If we remove them from the stats, the average rating on the angst scale is 4,5, which is far closer to the “bittersweet” than to WAFF.
On the bright side, I’ve never written fic worthy more than an 8, so outright tragedy, at least, is not my kink.
