And then I got Athena and Trucy and Ema all in the same case, and there was much rejoicing. We also got gems such as finally seeing Trucy cry and it was so adorable that it must be witnessed, and Apollo and Athena discussing the latter's... overly-empathic ways. "Snot-shaming", that's all I'm saying. Praise the lord for the translators of these games.
Sadly NOT adorable is Prosecutor New Guy, mentally nicknamed "Bitchface" because apparently my brain is in fact a thirteen year old boy. I thought he was meant to be like fourty at least, so imagine my shock when I checked his profile and it was twentysomething. Ema keeps insisting how he's "kind and gentle", but I'm going to need something more than watching him meditated under a tree surrounding by woodland animals before I buy it. Hey Capcom, if you wanted "being an honestly nice guy" to be your new prosecutorial schpiel then I'm afraid you did it a lot better the last time

and, uh, motivation considered, the last game. I complained about Blackquill being colourless compared to the previous rivals, but this far? Dear lord is New Guy boring. Case ending introduces him as Apollo's Edgeworth or something, but without the morally foggy BS he needs saving from and thus reads more like "we used to be pals but things got awkward after he found religion". After the debacle in DD, I shall be most cross if they don't at least mention Clay Terran's name here. HE DESERVES BETTER THAN FLASHBACKS AND A PHOTO.
You know what I didn't realised how much I'd missed? Being able to examine entire rooms, because goddamn is there a lot of character stuff going on there. Such as!
- The jacket of Apollo's suit! It exists, and he likes it! And he has worn it at least once! It was traumatising. For him.
- He also used to have a pet rabbit
- Trucy has something naughty in her purse
- Klavier sent Trucy a hugeass bunch of red roses for her first show
- Lamiroir also sent flowers, so apparently they're keeping in contact
Weirdly, this one's a one-day case as well? Seems like they were pressed on time somehow - it's long, but it's crime-investigation-trial-done. Meh. Too little Ema, too little Trucy, too little bouncing things off of Athena, too little interviewing of the bunnies. Anyway, the ending would've been funny if this didn't happen THE DAY AFTER ONE OF TRUCY'S CO-WORKERS WAS KILLED ON THE STAGE. why.
Do you know what this also reeks of? Of a wasted opportunity to get into a certain pair of siblings who don't know they're family yet. Unless, of course, this case comes back into play in the final showdown but I'm not getting my hopes up about this particular point ever being expanded upon what with how DD was all "AA4, what AA4?" about Apollo's entire bloody life and reviews have it that THIS game retcons it. I'll still firmly believe that sometime in the future, this happens.
I bet this is the last we see of Trucy in this game, too >:(
