Androgynous presentation and gender never being talked about =/= "canonical nonbinary".

Particularly not in universerses where it is well proven that being a teenage girl is fundamentally unsafe.

I mean, both these cases leaves it for interpretation and far be it for me to argue someone's headcanon, but as a girl who has issues with what society at large considers "feminine", you can wrestly my cross-dressing, gender-bending girls out of my cold, dead fingers.

Man,I still remember the furor the latest Kino anime caused when it was revealed she's a girl. People were so convinced Crunchyroll was fuckng things up and I was like, uh, this is actually canon in the original light novels?

Oh god, seriously? What, did they think CR had a special episode made just to deny the enby or something?

I think they just thought the translator was being ignorant and closed-minded.

Yeah, the whole "androgynous = NB" thing is fair enough, and certainly in cases like Kino where it can be fairly argued that that is in fact the case (even though the anime at least leaves it open enough for the argument of her being cis is just as probable - I haven't read enough of the novels to really know how it is there). What gets to me is when people - as someone on tumblr did today - insists that this is THE ONE AND ONLY CANON and you're a bad person for not adhering to it.
